Learners recognise and practise omitted unstressed vowels in natural pronunciation while preserving standard spelling.

The pronunciation lesson introduces vowel elision: an unstressed vowel may be omitted in natural speech. Learners identify and pronounce words with elision in isolation and in sentences. Practice is connected to the ASEAN Youth Volunteer Programme conversation and later sentences such as requests to bring a dictionary to history class. The purpose is not to change spelling, but to recognise how spoken forms can be shorter than their written forms. Learners listen, mark the relevant syllable, and repeat words and sentences naturally.
